What are you looking forward to?

“What are you looking forward to?”

A friend asked me this just before we hung up the phone, and I loved that question but didn’t have a quick answer.

In the rush of deliverables, deadlines, start of summer and exciting new beginnings, we often move from one thing to the next. We’re focused on what needs to get done, but not always on what fills us up.

So let me ask:

What are you actually looking forward to?

It doesn’t have to be something big.

It could be a trip you’ve been planning for months or a concert or reunion, but it might also be that hour of uninterrupted time you’ve blocked on your calendar.

It could be journaling.

A walk.

A call with someone who makes your heart lighter.

Or simply keeping a small commitment you made to yourself. Trying a recipe that caught your eye.

This time of year is full of milestones: graduations, transitions, celebrations. It’s a season of moving fast to try to slow. It can also be a season of renewal if we let it.

So whether you’re in the midst of a big change, supporting someone else through theirs, or simply navigating the everyday, I’ll leave you with the question that left me thinking:

👉 What are you looking forward to?
