You can’t force difficult conversations

At this week's "From Burnout to Vitality" workshop, someone asked a great question: "What if our team is resistant to having difficult conversations?"

My answer: That resistance is valuable data. It signals that psychological safety is compromised. You can't force difficult conversations when safety doesn't exist. Instead, we need to start with trust-building...understanding what values are being compromised and even supporting nervous system regulation. Authentic dialogue only happens when trust and psychological safety are in place.

This is exactly why our methodology focuses on building the foundation first. We don't assume everyone starts from the same place.
