Growth happens in the imperfections
What's getting to you these days?
I can talk all day about trust and compassion, but behind it lies a messier truth: we all get to a point when our internal struggles make their way out. We snap at colleagues, our families, a stranger in traffic. We make reactive decisions, damaging trust and relationships—especially when tensions are high and we're facing unprecedented circumstances. Anyone else swimming in uncharted waters?
I know I am and I have to be honest: The real work isn't promoting values when everything's smooth or leading with compassion when it feels easy. It's how we respond when emotions hijack our better judgment. When stress fractures our composure and we behave in ways we regret. True growth happens in these moments.
When you can step back, ask yourself: What triggered me? Why did I go there? What repair do I owe?
And then the tough truth: Am I equipped to fix it? How do I apologize? How do I acknowledge I didn't act from integrity? And if I made a negative impact on someone else, how might I repair that?
Our greatest leadership emerges when we're courageously imperfect.
